Women's Ministry at St. Matthew's Anglican Church!

We have an active women's ministry at St. Matthews and we would LOVE to have you join us! We tend to have a few events that are staples to our identity of the women's of St. Matthew's. We have a retreat once a year that runs from Friday night until Sunday around noon, we have an evening in December of Christmas carols and snacks, and are working on expanding!

(It sounds better if you say it to the rhythm of "I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!)

Please consider joining us for a lovely morning or afternoon of tea (there will also be coffee), adorable sandwiches, a selection of sweets, and biscuits with fresh strawberries! We will host two sittings for this event due to our anticipation of its popularity: 10am-12noon or 2-4pm; tickets are only $10/piece (children under 6 are free). It will be a lovely way to spend a few hours in the company of other really great and wonderful women. You do not need to be a mother or bring your mother - you just have to be willing to be indulge your inner pinky raising, tea sipping, sandwich sampling self for a few hours. You can order your tickets by emailing Angela here or purchasing them after a 10am service.

Last year, our retreat theme was "Cutting Holes in the Darkness"; with Bernadine Bezanson as our Retreat Chairperson, the retreat was a raging success! We had expanded our registration capacity and unfortunately still had a waiting list of people who wanted to attend the retreat if someone backed out. Our retreat leader was the Rev. Canon Maureen Crerar and truly, the retreat was an enlightening experience. As an exercise and encouraging activity, the women were sent out on a mission... outside their bedroom, our retreat centre, into the city of St. Albert... wherever they could go on foot... to capture a picture that embodied "darkness" and then a picture that embodied "light". From those pictures, we created a video that we uploaded to youtube. This video also served as our sermon Sunday morning for our Eucharist. The video can be viewed via a youtube link and it should load if you click here.

Our Women's Retreat in 2019 will occur on the weekend of October 25-27, 2019. Our theme and location are out of this world and registration forms will be available shortly. Due to the deposit and preparation that we are aiming to complete in the coming months as the planning committee, we are asking that people pay the $180 registration fee sooner rather than later. There are some options for payment available and we would be happy to discuss those with you further. Should you have any questions or concerns, the best person to contact would be our Registrar, Penny Holmes. You can email her by clicking on her name.
