St. Matthew's Children's Ministry

Children learn about life though play, interacting with materials and others.  Children learn faith in the same way.

At St. Matthew's we believe that children develop faith and a personal relationship with the Trinity - God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit - by using their hearts, bodies and minds.  Each week we present activities that appeal to the different needs and strengths of each child: word and language, logicial patterns, visualiszation, physical movement, music, interpersonal interactions, and self reflection.  Each child has the chance to explore Bible stories and concepts with caring adults, other children, and independently at their own level of understanding.  We use a variety of methods using the best of current religious education theory.

Goals of our Children's Ministry Program are:

  • To help our children become familiar with Bible stories
  • To help our children become familiar with and comfortable in our Sunday worship services
  • To create a fun, positive environment for every participant
  • To help us all come to know that God loves us
  • To communicate to the rest of the parish what we are doing and learning
Please note that we comply with all Diocesan guidelines for providing a safe environment for children, including the screening of all children's ministers.
